Research interests:

I entered into anthropology after my Bachelors of Architecture from Pratt Institute. During my undergraduate education there was a lack of critical social research and a desire to see the architect as apolitical. This brought me to the New School for Social Research. My research focuses on how architects, designers and researchers legitimize government policy that disenfranchises those most at risk, specifically in the Balkan region.  In Tirana, Albania urban planning has been identified as a key component to EU accession. Designs for the city have led to the destruction of Romani settlements and the decrease in housing security among the Roma. In attempts to redefine the city, the Roma have literally been scrubbed from the map. While pursuing my MA I am working as a Junior Architect on projects ranging from commercial building rehabilitation to public schools.
