Research interests:
Peruvian legal scholar, human rights lawyer, pursuing a PhD in Anthropology at The New School for Social Research. Her work centers on childhood, Indigenous rights, and the socio-legal dynamics shaping territory defense in Perú.
She also holds a Master’s in Human Rights with mention in Indigenous Rights and a specialization in Constitutionalism in Latin America from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, along with a Master’s in Law with a focus on Transitional Justice from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia.
Over the past decade, Stephanie has worked as a legal consultant for Peruvian public institutions, programs and NGOs, with a focus on participatory justice, gender-based violence, and access to legal protection. Current research explores the criminalization of Indigenous women in the Peruvian Amazon examining how the law functions both as a mechanism of oppression and as a space for resistance grounded in care and solidarity.
