The politics of science has changed dramatically since the 1980s when anthropologists began to study the sciences as an ethnographic object. At the same time, STS has become, for many, a point of theoretical and methodological reference in anthropology, even in projects that have little to do with either scientists or technologists. Dana Burton, Columba González-Duarte, and Nicolas Langlitz invite you to a discussion of the state of the field, delving into such topics as the motivation to grow a Latin American STS, to think about the effects of thinking STS from outer space, and what a decolonized STS would look like or if it is even possible.
