Redesigning our Research Projects with Trees, Termites and Spiders with Zoy Anastassakis

We will be joined by designer Zoy Anastassakis. She will tell us how her research agenda was transformed by her encounter with the trees and termites that inhabited the campus of the design school she directed, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between 2016 and 2018. Starting with an account of the transformative experience she had in that encounter, Zoy will tell us about how anthropology by means of design practiced by her has been altered since then. Then, in correspondence with Tim Ingold’s work, Zoy will propose an exercise in which each of the participants will be stimulated to reimagine their research projects as a spider web.
