Angelica Cuevas Guarnizo

Pronouns: she/her

Research interests:

I decided to approach anthropology after ten years of working in Colombia as a journalist and communications strategist for different media and activist initiatives. I am looking for new ways to analyze, understand and describe the complex and recurrent human rights violations occurring in my country and in Latin America. I am interested in research linked to action. I genuinely believe in finding synergies between academia and activism to continue exploring paths of knowledge that help generate wellbeing.

I would like to explore how the intersection between communication, anthropology, art and design, can produce public spaces for citizen reflection about issues such as migrations, urgent actions to fight climate change, violence, conflict resolution, historical memory and gender issues. I am a 2021 Fulbright Fellow.
