Sonia Yuhui Zhang
Research interests:
My current research interest revolves around loneliness: on the one hand, how loneliness has become formulated as a psychological and public health problem since the 20th century; on the other hand, how social roboticists in Europe and East Asia propose alternative understandings of loneliness by creating technologies of love and care. Before studying at NSSR, I spent a year working with NGOs in China, did some ethnographic research on rural development and education, and worked at a restaurant in Tokyo. I completed a BA in Human Sciences at the University of Oxford.
